The endorsement covers the assessment of asset management systems against ISO 55001 and PAS 55, and good practice assessment against the IAM Anatomy and GFMAM Landscape subjects. It does not cover consultancy, analytics, reliability engineering, software or training, so we never present it as endorsing those services.
Most organisations start with a gap analysis against the standard, close the priority gaps, run internal audits and a management review, and then engage a certification body. A maturity assessment alongside the gap analysis helps show how embedded the system is, not just whether the documents exist.
ISO 55001:2024 is the current international standard that sets the requirements for an asset management system. It covers the context of the organisation, leadership, planning, support, operation, performance evaluation and improvement, so assets deliver value throughout their lifecycle.
No. Under the IAM scheme, if we consult on developing your asset management system we cannot later carry out your certification audit. That separation protects the independence of certification, so we will always tell you up front which role we are playing.
A gap analysis shows where your asset management system meets ISO 55001 and where it falls short, so you can close the gaps. A certification audit is the formal assessment of whether the system conforms to the standard. Most organisations complete a gap analysis before seeking certification.
It means the Institute of Asset Management has independently endorsed SAS-AM as competent to assess asset management systems. SAS Asset Management is endorsed for both gap analysis and certification against ISO 55001, and is one of only three IAM Endorsed Assessors headquartered in Australia, out of 37 worldwide.
