FAQs

Learn more about what our clients ask us.

What do we receive at the end of a benchmarking engagement?

You receive a report showing where your organisation leads, where it lags against sector peers, and the improvement potential in each key capability area. It is written to support decisions, so it points to where investment will deliver the greatest improvement.

How do you make sure benchmark comparisons are like for like?

We compare within your sector and normalise for the factors that drive cost and performance, such as asset type, age, operating context and how each metric is defined. Where a difference comes from context rather than practice, the report says so.

What maintenance performance metrics can be benchmarked?

Common metrics include maintenance cost per asset unit, availability, failure frequency and response times. Planned versus reactive work and schedule compliance are also useful. We agree the definitions first, because a benchmark is only useful when both sides measure the same thing.

Which asset management frameworks do you benchmark against?

We benchmark against ISO 55001, the IAM maturity framework and the GFMAM Asset Management Landscape subjects. Using recognised frameworks means the comparison is meaningful across organisations and stands up when presented to a board or regulator.

How is benchmarking different from an asset management maturity assessment?

A maturity assessment measures your organisation against a framework, while benchmarking places that result beside your peers. Used together, they tell you both how capable you are and whether that capability is ahead of or behind organisations like yours. Our maturity assessments provide the scores that benchmarking puts in context.

What is asset management benchmarking?

Asset management benchmarking compares your practices and performance with comparable organisations and with recognised good practice. It shows where you lead, where you lag, and where targeted investment will make the biggest difference, rather than producing a league table.
